Lynda Lawson Karr
I am a mixed media artist based
west of Chicago.
After attending Rhode Island
School of Design,
I returned to my Midwest roots.
Various hand crafted kilns,
outside my country loft studio,
are essential to my process.
Loading and unloading 2000 bricks.
Breaking the rules and no fear of failure lead to
distinct artwork captured through the desire and use
of unconventional methods.
Barrel preparation with combustibles from my garden.
Tears for the Captain Sculpture is the result.
Building my own kilns gives me the freedom for
unconstrained exploration of unusual custom
glazes, additives and combustibles.
